Munchie Update: 3 Months

Holy crap Zoe is 3 months already! We've had a wonderful holiday at Marby & Pop's place, the weather has been really good. My sister Gina finally got to meet Zoe as she lives in Melbourne and Zoe got to hang out with her uncles, great grandparents and meet some of our friends also. We love showing her off and the reaction we usually get is "Oh! I was expecting a tiny baby?" since she is piling on the pounds. The best comment so far is "You've been in the good paddock haven't you?!" I take them all as compliments to my incredibly outstanding breast milk - thank-you very much. haha. Yep I'll take that credit!

Here are some quickies:
  • Zoe is now 3 months and 5 days old.
  • Just before Christmas at her Plunket weigh in, Zoe was 7kg & 61cm long. We weighed her ourselves two days ago and she was 7.7kg. yikes...
  • She no longer fits any 0-3month clothes and I have a full drawer of clothes for 'next time' that she can't fit anymore! some never worn!
  • Zoe has learnt to hold thin rattles and objects now and is slowly bringing them to her mouth without slamming herself in the head. WIN.
  • She LOVES to talk. Yesterday she talked continuously to herself (or us?) while on the way home from Katikati, she'd talked for about 40mins non-stop. She even talked herself to sleep at 4am this morning! She really loves it when you talk to her and she can reply back with multiple Ga's and Ooooh's. We all end up sounding like a pile of Monkeys! ooh, ooh oooooh...
  • She isn't sleeping through the night yet, gives us a 5hour or 4hour break here and there so we are still waiting for her to decide to stop eating all through the night... mmm
  • Have started using a Wrap Me Up Swaddle sleep sack to keep her arms and legs in check for naps to help wean her out of swaddling (I'll post about this later).
  • It may not seem like it but it has also been a difficult time as the strawberry birthmark on her right shoulder has ulcerated and long story short; 5 doctors who've never seen one before, lots of waiting at Starship Hospital, lots of District Nurse visits and daily dressings later.. we FINALLY have a specialist appointment on Monday to sort it out. Hopefully she won't need surgery. It doesn't seem to bother her so that is great. (Will post about this later too!).

All in all, she is a super happy baby who lights up our every day! Bring on the 4th month!

Hey, I found your blog and very glad that I have! What a beautiful little girl you have. Will definitely be coming back for more. :-)

What a wonderful idea for a swaddler! My son would not swaddle because he wanted his hands up and not crossed/down. I'd love to know how she likes it.

She is beautiful! Well done you two - all that hard-out new parenting thing - you are doing great!

Try a "dream feed" just before you go to bed. It got my little one sleeping thru the night
:-)
