A Fairy Hat for Zoe

I can't post all the things I've made for presents yet, except for this hat I made yesterday for Zoe. It's not like she's going to jump on the computer, read my blog and spoil everything now is it?!

I've been looking for a sun hat for Zoe for a while. The trouble is that her head keeps growing and what might fit fine now - might not fit AT ALL next week. And all the hats I have found in stores are too big or too small so I decided to make one. I found this lovely tutorial on The Purl Bee (here) and altered the pattern to make it slightly bigger after making a mockup or 2. Ok so it probably won't last long but it is big for her and she can almost fit it - so hopefully xmas onwards she will get about a month out of it... which will be the main time we are out and about in the sun. Maybe afterwards she will fit the larger ones in the stores.

I'm so proud of myself as I haven't sewn anything for a wee while, not something this practical and wearable anyway. Now I'm going to wrap it and put it under the tree and it didn't cost me a cent (had the fabric and binding lying around). DIY = Awesome.

That is the cutest hat! Baby's heads are notoriously the oddest things when you look hard at them... however it is just part of the baby look. They end up all well proportioned in time! Zoe is just beautiful!!!!
